The goal of Hill Country Christian School’s Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) curriculum is to give young learners a head start and provide them with an opportunity to learn and grow in an environment tailored to meet their academic and social needs. We are committed to creating a safe, loving atmosphere that allows each child to develop cognitively, socially, physically, and spiritually, providing for a successful transition to Kindergarten.
Goals and Objectives
The basic objectives for our full-time Pre-K Curriculum are as follows:
- Writing the letters A-Z (capital and lowercase)
- Writing the numbers 1-10
- Calendar (names of days and months)
- Colors and shapes
- Weather identification
- Perception and developing observation skills
- Understanding opposites and positional words
- Sequence comprehension (patterns and relationships)
- Character education (manners, positive values and attitude development)
- Listening and following direction
- Communication and cooperation
- Music and art
- Bible
- Health (body awareness) and science
- Fine- and gross-motor activities
- Ongoing math and language development
Students in the Pre-K program learn through dramatic play, cooperative play, small and large group instruction, physical activities, and hands-on activities.
