    Setting Goals

The goal of Hill Country Christian School’s Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) curriculum is to give young learners a head start and provide them with an opportunity to learn and grow in an environment tailored to meet their academic and social needs. We are committed to creating a safe, loving atmosphere that allows each child to develop cognitively, socially, physically, and spiritually, providing for a successful transition to kindergarten.

We aim to develop sound foundational skills and behaviors utilizing God's instructions for living and sharing a good life.

    Social Skills

Developing social skills in preschoolers helps them communicate, cooperate, and build empathy, laying the foundation for lifelong relationships and emotional well-being.

    Key Skills include:

    • Sharing and Turn-Taking
    • Communication
    • Empathy & Emotion Recognition
    • Cooperation & Teamwork
    • Conflict Resolution
    • Following Direction & Self-Regulation

    Emotional Development

Emotional development is one of the most important skills for preschoolers.   When their words are few and emotions are big, we aim to recognize our emotions and the emotions of others.

    Cognitive Development

Child cognitive development is a fascinating and complex process that entails the growth of a child’s mental abilities, including their ability to think, learn, and solve problems. This development occurs through a series of stages that can vary among individuals.

    Physical Development

Although every child develops at their own pace, they do follow fairly predictable milestones, especially when it comes to their physical development.

A child’s motor and physical development depends on four things:

    • The development of the brain and body parts.
    • The control a child has over each body part.
    • How a child learns about their body.
    • Learning to use both sides of their body.

    Language Development

Preschoolers experience a dramatic transformation in language development, moving from stringing a few words together to holding conversations, telling elaborate stories, asking questions, and expanding their vocabulary.  This period is crucial for their overall development, as strong language skills predict academic success, social competence, emotional regulations, and cognitive development.
