endowments & Scholarship funds

Legacy Endowment

The Legacy Endowment was gifted by a former family while their children attended HCCS.   Under the leadership and direction of Joe Lunz and Tom Ray, this 2-million-dollar gift was entrusted to the leadership and school with a purpose to keep tuition affordable and to help where there was the greatest need.  Together with the Endowment Board, Mr. Lunz and Pastor Ray established the Legacy Endowment to supplement the operating budget, to help fund scholarships, and to assist with capital improvements.

Guardian Endowment

Established by a HCCS Alumni, The Guardian Endowment began with the purpose to help those who have served a long tenure.   Their prayer was to bless the departing faculty and staff with a monetary gift for their service.   Employees who serve 5 to 20 years or more, receive an amount calculated by those number of years served.  The idea was to assist those entering retirement age and their aging spouses and to bless teachers who have served at our school for much less pay than the public school sector.

Additionally, this endowment serves families in need.   Whether it is a widow, an orphaned child or a family who can't afford the cost of a private Christian education, the recipients of these funds are blessed by this 1.5-million-dollar gift through scholarships.

Forward in Faith Endowment

After 2020, HCCS experienced an increase in operating costs and an influx of families seeking the stability of private education.  For the first time in over forty years, the school began a plan to raise tuition to address these growing  financial concerns.

The first concern was the aging property and need for improvements and expansion.   The second was the growing operating shortage.  Both The Guardian and The Legacy Endowments were taking on more than projected.  With the approval from the Development Committee, a few volunteer mom's began a Capital Campaign to establish the Forward in Faith Endowment.  This Endowment was founded to address the Capital needs and improvements.

The goal is to raise one-million dollars.  The fund currently holds $100,000 and will remain untouched until the corpus reaches it's targeted amount.

brandan aleman scholarship

Brandan Aleman attended Hill Country Christian School for a number of years.  He led his peers with a strong faith and love for our Lord.  Brandan embodied the very purpose of our school and believed in its mission.  Brandan has transitioned from our physical world to the that of the spiritual.  Friends and Family gathered to remember him and established the Brandan Aleman Scholarship Fund to carry on his legacy.

His legacy stretches further than this dedication.  It serves as a reminder and model for other students that our work in the kingdom is eternal.  Five-thousand dollars each year is awarded from Brandan's Scholarship to those who seek to be educated in the word, to live a life of serving others, and to carry on a tradition of faith and Christian values.

Like many of our large gifts, a Good Samaritan walked through our doors with his checkbook in hand and gave where there was the greatest need.  At the time, he paid tuition balances in full for 5 students.  These families had parents who experienced a rare life-event like losing a job, a death or medical need.

His generosity didn't stop there.  He came back!  He gave another gift as seed money for future families in need.  These funds are distributed as needed, and often to families who otherwise wouldn't qualify for financial aid.
